Associate Level Designer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create playable, in-engine game levels in collaboration with artists while working from design documents, rough map layouts, and concepts.
  • Strategically place interior and exterior structures throughout the level with engaging game play in mind.
  • Design interesting encounters and create environments that leverage existing game mechanics.
  • Must communicate effectively and collaborate successfully with game designers, art directors, producers, concept, and environment artists is essential.
  • Help coordinate and maintain scheduled tasks, communicate progress, identify obstacles, and help improve team workflow.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of at least one major game editor, but the UnrealEd Editor is preferred. (e.g., UnrealEd, QERadiant, Hammer).
  • Proven ability to finish and ship a level, either professionally or as a mod maker.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate productively with others.
  • Ability to work with moderate to minimal supervision, and successfully deliver on your directed goals and tasks.
  • Positive, professional attitude. Disciplined and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to think creatively and analytically.
  • Excellent organizational skills; the ability to multitask effectively, prioritize competing demands, and follow through on details.
  • Must be flexible enough to deal with changing role requirements.
  • Passionate about games and able to articulate that passion clearly and analytically.
  • A broad knowledge base of console and PC games.
  • College degree or equivalent.

Plusses:

  • Experience with 3DS Max or Maya.
  • Knowledge and experience with game scripting.
  • Console development experience.
  • Knowledge of game design theory and process.
