Level Designer/Scripter
Kaos Studios is looking for Mid or Senior Level Designers or game event Scripters with relevant experience to assist in the creation of AAA FPS single player gameplay. The ideal candidate will have knowledge, know-how and expertise with the Unreal Editor, Kismet and Matinee, or comparable experience in a similar toolset.
Flexible working arrangements (contract or staff) will be considered. Job location may be in LA or NYC locations.
Position Requirements:
Level Designers are responsible for level design and implementation. The scripting side of this role has a specific focus on scripting using Unreal Kismet/Matinee languages. Designers will be responsible for implementation of one or more of the following: game play via AI scripting, scripted events and story sequences. The designer will have strong knowledge of all aspects of kismet including matinee.
Designers must have the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate successfully with other designers, artists, producers, and other disciplines. Designers need to be able to help coordinate and maintain scheduled tasks, communicate progress, identify obstacles, and receive direction. The candidate will need to be able to work un-supervised at times while remaining effective and meeting creative and milestone goals on time and to quality.
This position will be working on a next-gen, AAA quality 1st person shooter. This position is geared solely towards single player game content featuring high levels of custom crafted content and scripting.
Qualifications: (Required)
Thorough knowledge of the Unreal Editor (e.g., Unreal 3.0, Kismet, Matinee, etc.) or comparable toolsets.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability and willingness to accept and follow direction, collaborate
productively with others, and work to meet deadlines as necessary.
Positive, professional attitude. Disciplined and self-motivated with a strong
work ethic.
Ability to think creatively and analytically.
Excellent organizational skills. Ability to multitask effectively, prioritizes
competing demands, and follow through on details. Must be flexible enough to
deal with changing role requirements.
Passionate about games and able to articulate that passion clearly and
analytically. A broad knowledge base of console and PC games, specifically top tier FPS titles.
Qualifications: (Desired)
Secondary education degree or equivalent.
Experience working on at least 1 FPS/action title using Unreal 3 at a professional game studio.
Non-professional custom Level or Mod work using Unreal 3
Basic knowledge of major 3D package (e.g., 3DS MAX, Maya, Softimage)
